'Anger Management' Finds New Female Lead

Legally Blonde: The Musical's Laura Bell Bundy has joined the cast as a new series regular, producers Lionsgate Television announced Monday.

Bundy will play Charlie's new sex-study research partner, Dr. Jordan Denby. The character is described as a brilliant psychologist whose recent divorce, fondness for alcohol and wild mood swings turn Charlie's life into an emotional roller-coaster. The role initially was conceived as a recurring part with series regular option.

The Tony nominee, who originated the role of Elle Woods in the Broadway adaptation of the Reese Witherspoon feature, replaces Selma Blair in the comedy series. Blair was dismissed from the series after clashing with Sheen in June. The 10/90 series had been casting for an actress for the part that was originally described as a tough, career-driven and neurotic woman who hates herself for eventually becoming attracted to Charlie.

Following Blair's exit, the series also added former recurring player Brian Austin Green as a new series regular. Green, who guest-starred as Sean, the boyfriend of Jen (Shawnee Smith, who plays Charlie Sheen's character's ex-wife), will reprise his role and be the new male foil to Sheen's Charlie on the comedy.

In addition to Broadway, Bell's credits also include roles on How I Met Your Mother and The CW's Hart of Dixie. She recently signed a record deal with Big Machine Records in Nashville and will release her first country single on Aug. 19. She's currently on tour with Rascal Flatts.

Bundy will begin filming Anger Management this week.

Debbie Gibson joins ABC-TV's singing competition

ABC has signed judges, cast and a host for its new competition series Sing Your Face Off, and it’s quite a unique collection of famous names.

First, actor John Barrowman (Torchwood, Arrow) will host the show, where five celebrity contestants take on the identity of an iconic music performer each week.

The judges are former Saturday Night Live cast member Darrell Hammond and pop singer Debbie Gibson.

And the show’s contestants learning to perform the hits of famous music stars are ex-Skid Row frontman and heavy metal singer Sebastian Bach, comedian Jon Lovitz, Toronto Raptors player Landry Fields, teenage Disney Channel actress-singer China Anne McClain and former soap star Lisa Rinna.

Of all the performers above, fans are probably most surprised to see Barrowman listed. He may be best known in the U.S. for his roles on cult-favorite sci-fi shows, but he’s hosted and served as a presenter on several unscripted shows in the UK.

The six-episode Sing Your Face Off is produced by Endemol USA with Georgie Hurford-Jones (America’s Got Talent) as executive producer and based on a successful international format. There’s no air date yet, but the production seems to gearing up for a potential debut this summer.

CYNDI LAUPER & BALLETS W/ A TWIST PERFORM @ BEACON

CYNDI LAUPER AND BALLETS WITH A TWIST TO PERFORM SOLD-OUT SHOW AT THE BEACON THEATRE 12/8

ALSO APPEARING: SARAH MCLAUGHLAN, WHOOPIE GOLDBERG, ROSIE O’DONNELL, ROBERTA FLACK AND MORE

New York, NY - (November 29th 2012) Following a sold-out performance benefitting the True Colors Fund featuring special guest Cyndi Lauper at New York City’s XL Nightclub and Cabaret,

Ballets with a Twist, the hot next-generation ballet company, will reunite with Lauper for a charity event at New York City’s historic Beacon Theatre.

On December 8th 8:00pm, the True Colors Fund will partner with stars of song, stage, and screen to present Cyndi Lauper & Friends: Home for the Holidays, a concert to raise awareness about homelessness within the LGBT youth community and to support equality for all. The event, hosted by style-savvy Emmy winner Carson Kressley, will feature performances and appearances by Sarah McLaughlan, Whoopi Goldberg, Rosie O’Donnell, Roberta Flack, and many more. One of these illustrious celebrities will make a surprise appearance with Ballets with a Twist as the company takes the stage to offer a taste of “Holy Water,” an excerpt from the intoxicating, evening-length dance experience, Cocktail Hour. For the first time, the dance will feature live music, including vocal performances by some of New York’s most soulful singers. On January 13th, Cocktail culturists can drink in the full Cocktail Hour suite when Ballets with a Twist returns to XL Nightclub and Cabaret with even more live music blended into the show.

Conceived and choreographed by celebrated dance-maker Marilyn Klaus — whose eclectic background ranges from vaudeville and show dancing to Isadora Duncan and classical ballet — Cocktail Hour is a sassy suite of dances, each inspired by a well-known beverage. The show both reinvents ballet and pays respect to the rich creativity of cocktail culture, launching the Martini, Mai Tai, Gimlet, Mint Julep, Shirley Temple and more off the menu and onto the stage.

Cocktail Hour features original music by Stephen Gaboury, who has collaborated with Klaus for over 20 years. Gaboury’s music has been featured in film and on television. In 2004, he received a Grammy nomination for his work with pop/rock legend Lauper, with whom he recently contributed as co-writer for selections in her new musical Kinky Boots. He has also performed with many A-listers including Patti Labelle, Suzanne Vega and Ute Lemper. Catherine Zehr  is the artistic force behind the glamorous costume design. Her exquisite creations evoke the origins and spirit of each libation with vivid colors and embellishments.

Critics and audience members agree: Cocktail Hour is an artistically seductive must-see. The Huffington Post raves that Klaus is “blasting the boundaries between high art and entertainment,” and that her style is a distinctive mix of “Hollywood glitz and New York polish,” while The New York Times praises her as “witty and fantastic.” Recent performances also caught the attention of The Wall Street Journal and New York City’s PIX11 Morning News.
